Hector was a man filled with laughter, kindness, and generosity. Deeply devoted to his family, he was always ready to help in whatever way he could. He was an incredible listener and a trusted source of advice, always speaking from the heart with honesty. If Hector trusted you, he would tell you what you needed to hear—always with love behind his words.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Hector loved comedies, whether movies or television shows, and could often be found laughing while enjoying his favorite candies. His favorite show, The Golden Girls, was one he happily rewatched time and time again.
Music was another great passion of his. He loved to dance salsa and would sing along loudly to any song he knew. His vibrant spirit and sense of humor made every gathering brighter.
In his younger years, Hector worked with nonprofit organizations dedicated to researching cures for HIV and AIDS. It was emotionally hard work, but he knew being there helped others, so there he was.
Above all, Hector was a faithful and loyal friend—someone who made people feel seen, heard, and valued. His presence left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his siblings: Maria Cruz Mendoza, Salvador Cruz Mendoza, Angelina Cruz Mendoza, Jose Cruz Mendoza, Rigoberto Cruz Mendoza, Jesus Cruz Mendoza, Orlando Cruz Mendoza, Luis Cruz Mendoza, and Lissette Cruz Mendoza. He is reunited in rest with his parents, Salvador Cruz Rivera and Francisca Mendoza Lopez, as well as his sister, Carmen Cruz and five siblings who passed in infancy and childhood, including Aurora and Jose Antonio.
Hector also leaves behind a large and loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, grand cousins, and well as many dear friends who will continue to carry his memory in their hearts.
His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will live on forever.
