Lascelles lived an extraordinary century defined by faith, love, resilience, and wisdom.
A devoted husband and cherished father, he brought genuine warmth, wise guidance, and a joyful spirit to his home and loved ones. He was a gifted chronicler of a century well-lived, taking immense joy in sharing a rich tapestry of stories that covered his childhood, his own life's journey, and the fascinating people and events he encountered along the way.
Following decades of dedicated service in his profession, he transitioned into a long, active retirement that allowed him to fully embrace his love for reading, music, and nature. He truly loved life, possessed a wonderful sense of humor, and always delighted in a good joke. An athlete in his youth and a scholar throughout his life, he maintained a sharp mind refusing to let age limit his passion for learning, and staying current with national and world events. As an avid reader, he immersed himself in books across a wide variety of subjects and Christian literature that brought him immense comfort, peace, and joy.
Music was a great passion; he lifted his beautiful voice in his church choir for many years and was a proud past member of the National Chorale of Jamaica. Guided by his favorite truths, “Let Go and Let God,” “Knowledge is Power,” and “All good things come to those who believe,” he leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and enlightenment. He is now peacefully resting, and his beautiful, sweet soul will be forever cherished and remembered.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 77 years, Mavis (with whom he shared 81 extraordinary years); his loving children, Michele, Cheryl, and Dawn; his son-in-law, Alfred; his cherished grandchildren, Daren, Theodore, and Dominic; his nieces, including Dahlia, to whom he was like a father; his nephew, his grandnieces, grandnephews , many close relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Gerda and Enid.
