Manuel J. Fernandez

Born December 25th, 1945 in Havana, Cuba. His parents were Manuel Fernandez and Delia Hernandez. He was studying at the University of Havana, and while on his 4th year of Electrical Engineering, traveled to Moscow where he graduated as a Lighting Designer and Scenographer from the Nemirovich Danchenko Theatre Academy of Moscow in 1981.

Manolo moved to Miami, Florida in 1993, and later established L.D.P. (Lighting Design and Production). He had a passion for the lights from theatre to live shows.

He is survived by his wife Carmen J. Morales, his daughters Barbara I. Fernandez and Isis M. Fernandez, his grandchildren Diego M. Estrada, Ivana M. Estrada, and Theo M. Lopez, and his sisters Miriam Diaz and Mercedes Fernandez.

He was an avid sports enthusiast, and his favorite team was the Miami Marlins.

Manolo will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

Manuel J. (Manolo) Fernández de 75 años, falleció el 27 de febrero de 2021 en el Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida. Fue esposo de Carmen J. Morales. Estuvieron casados durante 27 años.

Nació el 25 de diciembre de 1945 en La Habana, Cuba. Hijo de Manuel Fernández y Delia Hernández. Estudió en la Universidad de La Habana y mientras cursaba el cuarto año de Ingeniería Eléctrica, en 1976 viajó a Moscú donde se graduó como Diseñador de Iluminación y Escenógrafo de la Academia de Teatro Nemirovich Danchenko de Moscú en 1981.

Manolo se mudó a Miami, Florida en 1993, donde más tarde fundó L.D.P (Lighting Design and Production). Apasionado de las luces, desde teatro hasta espectáculos en vivo.

Le sobreviven su esposa Carmen J. Morales, sus hijas Bárbara I. Fernández e Isis M. Fernández, sus nietos Diego M. Estrada, Ivana M. Estrada y Theo M. Lopez, y sus hermanas Miriam Diaz y Mercedes Fernández.

Fue un ávido entusiasta de los deportes y su equipo favorito era Miami Marlins.

Manolo será profundamente extrañado por su familia, amigos y colegas.

A visitation for Manuel will be held Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Little Havana, 3344 SW 8TH ST, MIAMI, FL 33135. A committal service will occur Monday, March 8, 2021 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Little Havana.
