Maria Teixeira Reboucas, a beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and cousin, passed away on April 21st, 2025. She was born on April 25th 1933 in Icapuí in the state of Ceará, Brazil to parents José Teixeira Rocha and Francisca Félix Rocha, and was later blessed with a stepmother, Idelia Teixeira Rocha. She has seven siblings, Antonio, Edna, Dedé, Fatima, Alan, Luluda and Junior Teixeira Rocha.
On September 2nd 1956, she married her husband, Francisco Chagas Reboucas. The pair began their new life together in Brooklyn, New York, where they started their family––first welcoming their daughter Rose Mary, followed by sons Frank Jr. and Roy Joseph. Years later, they sought out warmer weather in Miami, Florida, where their youngest daughter Angela Teixeira was born. With a joyous spirit and kind heart, Maria created a beautiful life and a loving home, where she welcomed everyone with warmth, laughter and a slice of “bolo do ceu.” True to her religion, she always had time to help those in need, whether by collecting clothes for donation or crocheting blankets so they might know warmth and comfort. She enjoyed dancing and listening to music, crocheting, playing bingo and baking–a hobby she shared with her granddaughters. An avid cruiser, Maria was the unofficial brand ambassador for Carnival Cruise Line––her bags always packed and ready to snag a last minute friends and family deal. In her 91 years, she made countless happy memories that will live on in the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
She is survived by her four adoring children, her sons-in-law Pablo and Randall, and daughters-in-law Claudia and Renee. She has three sisters-in-law, Gerusa, Monica, Cenide and Celia. She has five grandchildren, Pablo Jr., Nicholas, Alexa Marie, Grant and Tess—and two great grandchildren, Anabella Maria and Sebastian. She was an aunt to twelve nieces: Larissa, Beliza, Natalia, Carol, Joyce, Kelly, Gaby, Mabel, Allana, Lais, Anita, Jessyca and Maria Alicia; and eight nephews: Jason, Tonico, Neto, Joey, Gabriel, Chris, Alex, Caio and Pedro Lucas.
We will be honoring her memory with Visitation on Friday, May 2nd from 3pm to 10pm, during which there will be a service at 7pm. A burial service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 12:30 pm at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South, 11655 SW 117th Ave, Miami, FL 33186.
