Maria Georgina Sabates

Heaven has a new angel, and her name is Maria Georgina Sabates, Yoyi. She was called home by The Lord on October 28th after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

The story of Yoyi started in Camaguey, Cuba where she was born. She was always a very sweet little girl who unfortunately was separated from her parents at age of 13, when the Castro regime took over the schools. Her parents sent her to the United States under the Pedro Pan Program to prevent her indoctrination by the government. The program sent her to live to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she lived until she was united again in Lexington, North Carolina with her brothers and sisters when her mother was allowed to come to the United States. Yoyi graduated from High School in Lexington and then moved with the family to Charlotte, North Carolina where she graduated from Piedmont Community College; and when her the father was allowed to come to the United States, Yoyi and the family moved to Miami.

In Miami Yoyi worked at the Bank of Miami. She was very sociable and liked helping the customers who loved working with her. Her friendly disposition gained her lots of friends who loved her because she always had a smile on her face. After leaving the bank, she worked with her sister Rosa and later joined her sister Silvia’s real estate company. She became one of the top sales agents for the company until she was unfortunately diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a debilitating disease that finally took her life. She struggled with this disease for over 15 years. But Yoyi was a fighter and was never bitter, nor asked why me? She refused to let MS take the smile from her face until the last moments when she was ready to go home to The Lord.

Yoyi will be remembered by all for her unconditional love for her daughter Marisabel, who she adored, and for the love for her family. She had a soft heart for those that were in need. Likewise, when anyone did anything for her, she was humbled and very appreciative. She was selfless and pure love.

Yoyi was the daughter of Feliciano Sabates and Maria Georgina Sabates Tavio (deceased) and is survived by her daughter Marisabel Flores and her siblings Feliciano Sabates Jr. (Felix), Silvia Sabates Coltrane, Jose Sabates, Manty Sabates, Rosa Espinel, Arturo Sabates and her siter-in-law Cindy Macpherson and brother- in-law Roberto Espinel. Her surviving nieces and nephews Mimi Sabates, Feliciano Sabates (Chany), Mario Antonio Sabates, Alexandra Bailey and her husband Ryan Bailey, Robert Espinel and wife Kasia, Richard Espinel and wife Krisztina, Arturo Blake Sabates and wife Ashley and Alex Sabates; and cousins Carly Fitz, Victoria Fitz, Bella Fitz, Armando Fitz, Pierce Sabates, Austin and Luke Bailey, Gia Espinel, Sebastian and Christopher Espinel, Kaia and Melania Sabates, and many other cousins, their spouses and children who are descendants of the Jose Sabates and Maria Belizón and the Jose Tavio and Georgina Ramirez families.

Mass will be held on November 12th at 11 a.m. followed by the burial.

MARIA GEORGINA SABATES (Yoyi)

El cielo tiene un ángel adicional, y su nombre es Maria Georgina Sabates, Yoyi. El Señor la llamó a casa el 28 de octubre después de una larga batalla contra la Esclerosis Múltiple.

La historia de Yoyi comenzó en Camagüey, Cuba donde nació. Siempre fue una niña muy dulce que lamentablemente fue separada de sus padres a los 13 años, cuando el régimen de Castro tomo posesión de las escuelas. Sus padres la enviaron a Estados Unidos bajo el Programa Pedro Pan para evitar que el gobierno la adoctrinara. El programa la envió a vivir a Albuquerque, Nuevo México, donde vivió hasta que se unió nuevamente con sus hermanos y hermanas en Lexington, Carolina del Norte, cuando a su madre se le permitió venir a los EE. UU. Yoyi se graduó de la escuela secundaria en Lexington y después la familia se mudó a Charlotte, Carolina del Norte, adonde Yoyi se graduó de Piedmont Community College; y cuando se le permitió a su padre venir a los Estados Unidos, Yoyi y la familia se mudaron a Miami.

Yoyi trabajaba en el Bank of Miami. Era muy sociable y le gustaba ayudar a los clientes a quienes les gustaba trabajar con ella. Su disposición amistosa le ganó muchos amigos que la estimaban porque siempre tenía una sonrisa en su rostro. Después de dejar el banco, trabajó con su hermana Rosa y luego se incorporó a la inmobiliaria de su hermana Silvia. Se convirtió en una de las mejores agentes de ventas de la empresa hasta que, lamentablemente, le diagnosticaron esclerosis múltiple, una enfermedad debilitante que finalmente le quitó la vida. Luchó con esta enfermedad durante más de 15 años. Pero Yoyi era una luchadora y nunca estaba amargada, ni reclamo “por qué a mí?” Se negó a dejar que la EM le quitara la sonrisa de su rostro hasta los últimos momentos al partir a un mejor mundo.

Yoyi será recordada por todos por su amor incondicional por su hija Marisabel, a quien adoraba, y el amor por su familia. Tenía un corazón tierno para los necesitados. Asimismo, cuando alguien hacía algo por ella, siempre lo agradecía. Ella era amor puro y desinteresada.

Yoyi era hija de Feliciano Sabates y Maria Georgina Sabates Tavio (fallecidos) y le sobreviven su hija Marisabel Flores y sus hermanos Feliciano Sabates Jr. (Felix), Silvia Sabates Coltrane, Jose Sabates, Manty Sabates, Rosa Espinel, Arturo Sabates y su cuñada Cindy Macpherson y su cuñado Roberto Espinel. Sus sobrinos y sobrinas sobrevivientes son Mimi Sabates, Feliciano Sabates (Chany), Mario Antonio Sabates, Alexandra Bailey, Robert Espinel y su esposa Kasia, Richard Espinel y su esposa Krisztina, Arturo Blake Sabates y su esposa Ashley y Alex Sabates; sus primos y primas Carly Fitz, Victoria Fitz, Bella Fitz, Armando Fitz, Pierce Sabates, Autin y Luke Bailey, Gia Espinel, Sebastián y Christopher Espinel, Kaia y Melania Sabates ,y muchos otros primos, sus cónyuges e hijos que son descendientes de Don José Sabates y María Belizon y la familia de Don José Tavio y Georgina Ramírez.

La misa se llevará a cabo el 12 de noviembre a las 11 a.m. seguida del entierro.
