It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ruth Maupin, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on May 18, 2025 at the age of 89. Born on August 6, 1935 in Murfreesboro Tennessee, Mary was a pillar of strength, compassion, and warmth. She dedicated her life to nurturing those around her, always putting her family first and offering boundless love, support, and wisdom. Her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness left a lasting imprint on everyone who’s lives crossed her path. Mary was a business office manager and valued mentor for those that surrounded her in her journey with a lasting career at Palm Springs General Hospital. She was loved and respected by the administration and her peers.
As a mother, she was our guide, our comfort, and our greatest champion. She taught us resilience not by words but by the grace with which she faced life’s challenges. A woman of quiet courage and deep faith, she led by example. She taught us the meaning of unconditional love. Her laughter filled our homes and hearts with lasting joy and her presence made us feel safe and cherished.
Mary is preceded by her mother and father Hubert and Nannie Miller, her brother Harry Miller and her two sons Charles Robert Maupin, and Joseph Clarence Maupin Jr. “Joey.”
Mary is survived by her children: Miranda Joyce Slaga (Tom), James Lee Maupin Sr. (Trudy), Mary Lynn Maupin (James Allen). Her grandchildren: Daniel Veltri (Heather), James Maupin Jr., Matthew Slaga (Dalain), Megan Deleon (Duke), and Katie Aikens (Dallin). Her great grandchildren: Sage, Roman, and Chase Veltri, Aubrey Maupin, Naomi, Stephanie, and Seth Slaga, and Jacqueline and Easton Aikens, her brother Larry Miller (Betty), her nephew Eric Miller (Mavis), all of who cherished her and will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Though she is no longer with us in person, her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the values she instilled, and the endless love she gave so freely.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Old Cutler Presbyterian Church on June 14, 2025 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in her memory to Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, which was a cause close to her heart.
She will truly be missed every day that goes by, but we take comfort in knowing that her love endures. Rest peacefully, our dearest mother. You were the heart of our family, and may your light never fade.
