Neida is survived by her daughter, Ileana Bustelo-Marino and son-in-law, Eduardo Marino; her siblings, Sergio Gonzalez, Cecilia Olympia Toranzo and Miriam Ginoris; and her adored grandchildren, Katherine G. Marino (Katie) and Jacob A. Marino. She is preceded by her mother Carmen Gonzalez; her father Sergio Luis Gonzalez; and her sister Zoila Ginoris.
Neida was born in Havana, Cuba on April 29, 1942. As the oldest female of the sibling group she was devoted to the care and wellbeing of her younger siblings. She dedicated her life to unselfishly support those she loved. She fled Cuba with her younger sister, Olympia and migrated to the United States in 1966 where she resettled in Miami-Dade County. She was the anchor to many of her family members who later followed and joined her in the United States.
Neida married in 1970 and years later divorced but she was always a devoted mother to her daughter. As a single mother she worked various, often difficult, jobs while also supporting herself through vocational training. She eventually completed her studies and worked most of her life in the health care industry as a certified nursing assistant. She enjoyed working with the elderly and in the 1980’s became part Owner and Administrator of an Adult Living Facility (ALF) until she retired. She was actively involved in organizations that supported freedom for Cuba, including Mujer Cubana and Movimiento Democracia. She enjoyed cooking for her family, watching soccer games and caring for her grandkids.
Neida will be deeply missed by her family and friends, we are better for having had her in our lives. She will be forever in our hearts and her spirit will live on strongly in all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
