Raul Couret

COURET, Raul, age 87, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on July 17, 2020. Born on January 15, 1933, in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, he came to the United States in 1959 in search of freedom and a better life, after having served in the military fighting the Castro revolution. He lived in Chicago for 24 years shoveling plenty of snow and enduring freezing weather prior to moving his wife and son to Miami, where he came to live for 37 years of his life looking for better weather. Although he never was able to achieve more than an elementary education in Cuba, he became a photographer in Chicago and later continued that career in Miami with a successful business during the age of polaroid pictures. He was a lover of baseball and enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling, especially with his grandchildren. Also, he was known for wearing guayabera’s, his signature style. He is remembered with love by his wife Ramona (Nieves) Couret of 53 years, son Raul Couret Jr. (daughter-in-law Christina Couret), grandchildren Raul Antonio and Melania Noemi, along with siblings Reinaldo Couret (Norma), the late Teresita Correa (the late Mario), Amalia Lara (the late Enrique), Jesus Couret (Idelena), many nieces and nephews and other family members. Raul was a devoted man, a hard worker, and a man that always had a smile on his face. The family will receive visitors at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Park South, 11655 SW 117th Ave, Miami, on July 20th from 4-8pm and burial on July 21st at 2:00pm. The family would like to thank all who have supported and helped during Raul’s illness, especially Caridad (Cari) Ramos, long time caregiver, and the VITAS Healthcare team.
