First let me say how sorry for the loss of your dad.  I've known Richard since he started and I'm in dogs for 40 yrs.  Richard was easy to spot on I-75 with the tiny camper and his yellow vehicle with the red weiner decal on the side.  He loved to talk and eat at the buffet table we had.  He loved to take photos of people and their dogs. As Heather said he had a chocolate dapple that escaped everyday, we took turns catching him and take him back to Richard.  I'll never forget when Mary Ellen and Janet hadn't heard from him in a couple of days and we all got worried.   So it turns out he wasn't far from my house.  I got there and no car in sight. I asked the neighbor if he had seen him, sorry no.  I was about to call 911 when I looked up and he was pulling in the driveway!  After telling him that many people were worried he said well I'm alive and hungry.  We went to Chili's he ordered his cocktail 🍸and we had a good lunch and conversation.  We tried for years for him to be closer to his family, he would always say how proud he was of his kids and that he had 2 Admirals in the family.  I encouraged him to  go to the VA.  Well that's about all he'll be in my memory until I leave this 🌎world.

I remember Richard calling me (not sure how many years ago) about Dachshunds and wanting to know how he could get involved.  I told him he needed to join the Florida Gulf Coast Dachshund Club.   The rest was history.  He was an advocate for performance events like earth dog and field trials.  He was a true gentleman with a great sense of hummer.   He loved his Bloody Mary super hot (the restaurant could never get hot enough) and his steak bloody rare.  He will be truly missed.  RIP Richard.

Richard was a friend who got me started with field trials with my dachshund. I met Richard through the Florida Gulf Coast Dachshund Club.  He would take pictures of my dogs in confirmation,  obedience and field and send them to asking nothing more than a thank you.  We would talk about politics and dogs. I will miss those talks greatly.  He was  an incredible person and friend . He so tried to buy my girl Athena but she was the only girl in the litter and not going anywhere. That was 13 years ago.  The last time we talked he reminded me he wanted Athena.  Now he will be watching from above.  

We did AKC Dachshund field trials with Richard. He longed for a dachshund that would hunt so a mutual friend brought 3 of her dogs to a field trial that she thought would hunt. Richard picked a little black and tan girl named Fflur. We took her into the field to hunt after she'd spent a day and night with Richard. Well....when we released her on the rabbit trail she turned around and ran directly back to Richard! From that day on she spent every moment in Richard's lap!
We will never forget this remarkable man! We love you Richard! Rest in peace until we meet again.

Paul & my deepest sympathy for the loss of Richard. We loved him dearly, and enjoyed when he brought BG over for obedience training here at our home. He was also a member of the Pasco Florida Kennel Club, and even came up to Brooksville, Florida, in 40 degree weather in January, when we had our shows & trials, and sold catalogs, volunteering his time. He was well liked and respected by everyone. I will miss him a lot, as our friendship was very Special. Our prayers to Richards family & friends. Bonny & Paul Thatcher

Dearest Keith and Yvette and boys, our hearts are heavy knowing you have just lost your Richard. Big hugs to you and be strong as grief is ever changing. Just remember to breathe. We love you- lynn, Dave, jack, Sophie, and Romi.

I will always Remember Richard the most at the Field Trials in GA. With his little scamp trailer and all his dogs always one escaping and jumping the fence☺️ And Richard  walking up and down the field with his camera and taking wonderful pictures of all of us with our dogs and enjoying every minute of it ☺️ 

I had the privilege of attending a concert with Richard  gifted to us by our mutual friend, Betty. I am so glad I got to spend that time with him and realize even more keenly what a classy and thoughtful gentleman he was. We had always been friendly through dog shows and events, but this revealed another facet of his personality. I raise my glass to you sir with the full expectation you are a sipping on a Bloody Mary made just the way you like it.  

Having known Richard thru the Dachshund club  I remember his invaluable help at our events setting up earth dog.  He always had his dogs with him and loved them all.  Richards biggest brag was not winning with his dogs but was his family and how proud he was of all of them.  
He will be missed by us all.  

I met Richard though membership in the Florida Gulf Coast Dachshund Club. He was very active with our activities, conformation, earth dog and field trial events. He was always so gracious to take pictures of us and our dogs at the events. Richard was a genuinely kind man with an engaging mind and quick wit. I will miss you, Rest in Peace my friend. 

Words can’t express how grateful we are to have been a part of Richard’s life. What a wonderful unassuming and humble man he was. He loved his family  as was so proud of them. He also loved his dogs and cared for them with all his heart. I will miss his phone calls and great discussions. Rest In Peace my friend. I know Ruby, Fancy and Tahl were there waiting on you.
