Richard, nicknamed Chachou by his loving relatives was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti to Jacques Dėbrosse and the late Norma Goldman on February 22, 1957. Although Richard was his parents' only child, he grew up among his cousins with whom he held very close relationships as if they were brothers and sisters. Richard attended the Petit Sėminaire Collège St-Martial and Collège Bird before moving to the United States where he specialized in mechanics. Richard (Chachou) was fearless, vivacious, and enterprising. Chachou was good-hearted, always ready to do the impossible. He was creative, hard working, and never let anything or anyone take him down. A born optimist, he fought a brave battle against lung and brain cancer for nearly three years, never giving up hope but more astonishingly - Richard never felt sorry for himself till he drew his last breath.
Richard is survived by his beloved father Jacques Dėbrosse, his wife Sabine Boyer-Dėbrosse, his children Alexia, Taryn, Stacey, Norma, Briane, Sabrina, and Reginald; his younger brother Robert. Chachou is survived by his in-laws, aunts and uncles, and the large contingent of cousins who are deeply affected by his early departure and will cherish his memory as long as they live. He also left behind numerous friends with whom he formed strong and lasting bonds.
The family of Richard Yves Dėbrosse wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all family members, relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and health professionals who have assisted them in these very difficult times.
