HAMPTON, Cleda Mae, 96, of Miamisburg, passed away Wednesday morning April 15, 2026, at her home. Cleda was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on June 26, 1929, to Jeptha and Martha (Caudill) Bowling. Cleda was one of 12 children, born in the middle of the pack. After graduating from Stewart Robinson High School, she moved to Dayton, Ohio for work at NCR. She retired from Monsanto / EG&G. How ironic that Cleda would meet Ernest, the love of her life, in Dayton, who had also left Eastern Kentucky where he had also graduated from Stewart Robinson High School, to work at NCR. They had 56 wonderful years together. Cleda was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Miamisburg for 70 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher. Cleda was tremendously talented at crocheting and won many blue ribbons with her creations at the Montgomery County Fair. She was self-taught at piano, keyboard, and guitar, and loved to perform for friends, family, and at church. Cleda is survived by her son, Terry Hampton; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jerry Vaughn; granddaughter, Sara Jane Wilkinson and husband William; and brother, Wayne Bowling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hampton; brothers, Vaughn, Vance, Virgil, Vernon and Victor Bowling; sisters, Clara Bowling, Faye Boyd, Fondie Logan, Inas Boring and Eunice Mullins; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hampton; and step-grandson, Jason Robert Brennan. Cleda will best be remembered for her sweet spirit, great cooking, especially at Thanksgiving, her chicken & dumplings, and love of her church and family. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, April 18, 2026, at The Bridge Church, 323 N. 11th St. Miamisburg, with Pastor Steve Spurgin officiating. Her family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of services Saturday at the church. Her final resting place will be at Hillgrove Cemetery, Miamisburg. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.gebhartschmidtparramore.com . A special thanks from Cleda’s family to the exceptional caretakers and nurses who were a blessing for the last 2 years.
