John P. Wagner

passed away on December 23, 2011. John was born on December 18, 1924 to Gladys and John H. Wagner. John is survived by his wife of 66 years Joan (Lambert) Wagner. Also surviving are sons, Steve (Teri) of Miamisburg, OH; Tim (Verna) of Sevierville, TN; daughter, Wendy (Bruce) Zimmerman of Richmond, KY; sister, Jane Weaver of FL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy(Lambert) and Jerry Imes. He has seven grandchildren, Bart(Julie), Brad(Heather), Ty (Missy), Bret, Angie(Michael), Ross, Alison(Missy) and nine great grandchildren, Ashley, Jordan, Gage, Kylie, Hailee, Riley, Mikayla, Amelia, and Easton. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a vast number of friends. John was a life-long resident of Miamisburg, having graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1943. He served in the US Navy during WWII and returned to his high school sweetheart, Joan Lambert, whom he married on December 28, 1945. They were married 66 years. John was an active member of the American Legion in Miamisburg. He loved his family, his country, and his town. You could either find him on the golf course, fishing, watching every kind of sport on TV or working in his yard. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His memorial service will be held at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1:00pm. A military service will be held at the graveside at Ellerton Cemetary in Moraine, OH immediately following the service. The family invites all his family and friends to join them in “A Celebration of His Life" at the American Legion Post 165, 35 North Main St., Miamisburg after the graveside ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you may make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in John Wagner's name.
