Kimberly Shade Leis

SHADE LEIS, Kimberly Jan, age 53 of Miamisburg, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from a long and courageous battle with cancer and under the care of Hospice of Dayton. She was born October 15, 1962 to the late Herman Shade Jr. and Lillian Bonnie (Carpenter) Shade. Kim is survived by her adoring son, Nick Leis of Miamisburg; her sister, Jeane (Dale) Toadvine of Miamisburg; nieces and nephew, Micah (Rocky) Davis, Sarah (Brian) Pelphrey and Rusty (Korinne) Toadvine all of Miamisburg; great nieces and nephews, Ella, Gus, Dane, Tristen, Shane, Zada, Kellen and Josiah; many other extended family members; pets, her dog, Chloe and several feline friends and numerous life-long friends including, Annette Roe Miller and Sherry Virtullo Smith as well as her Wings of Hope volunteers. Kim was a 1980 graduate of Miamisburg High School and attended Sinclair University where she studied Criminal Justice. She was a dedicated and hardworking employee having worked for many area businesses including Sycamore Hospital, The Berry Co., Mound Laboratories, Miamisburg City Schools and Parking Solutions. Kim enjoyed participating in the Miamisburg Schools Mentoring Program and volunteering for the Humane Society of Greater Dayton. She loved caring for animals and surrounding herself with children but also spent a good deal of time flower gardening, doing outdoor activities in the sun and obsessively mowing her grass. Family will be hosting a memorial gathering from 4:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday, June 26, 2016 at The Greenhouse Miamisburg, 1999 Belvo. Rd, Miamisburg, OH 45342. A memorial service will immediately follow at 5:00 PM also at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Greater Dayton at 1661 Nicholas Rd., Dayton, OH 45418 and in lieu of flowers please perform a random act of kindness in Kim’s memory.
