Millicent Ann (Fogle) Davenport, 77, of Dayton, Ohio, died peacefully on April 22, 2017. She was born December 5, 1939 in Dayton, Ohio, and joins in heaven her father Lawrence and Dorothy (Patchen) Fogle; mother Lenora (Hill) Fogle; brothers David and Gerald Fogle; sister Marilee Pyle; and beloved son Joel Craft.
Survivors include husband Roger Davenport of Clayton; brother John Fogle of Farmersville; son Darryl Craft of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter Laurie (Craft) Layman (Jason) of Oakwood; niece Jeannie Fogle; nephews Eric and Aaron Fogle; grandchildren Brooke and Lucas Layman and Ethan Craft; Roger’s daughter Missy Kreitzer (Eric) and son Leland of Riverside; Roger’s son James Davenport (Heather) and daughter Lillia of Springfield; and cats Libby, Catherine and Sedrick.
Millicent was a 1958 Miamisburg High School graduate. Throughout life, she expressed her God-given passions for art and music. She played clarinet in high school and sang for many years in the St. Jacobs Lutheran Church Choir and in the Miamisburg Community Chorus. She was known for constantly singing songs from all eras and genres– hymns, country tunes, rock songs, etc. She cherished her 8-tracks, cassettes, and vinyl records, playing them for hours in her home, to the joy of her children. As for art, regardless of her life circumstances, she found a way to draw, sketch, and paint. She studied art for many years with the late Gene Woods in his Miamisburg studio, and she attended the Dayton Art Institute. She was prolific: many works of art now hang in the homes of family and friends. Her artistic legacy is very strong in her children and grandchildren, all of whom express artistic talents.
She was a hard worker at National Cash Register for years and in other establishments.
She deeply loved nature, as evidenced in countless outings with family and friends to parks like Sycamore Trails and Germantown Reserve. When her three children were very young, she walked them in strollers and wagons for literally miles around town, even on the coldest winter days.
Perhaps most importantly, she was a spiritual truth seeker. She found God’s love and guidance in texts such as Bible Psalms, and she in turn shared this absolutely pure and unconditional love with family and friends. She was a faithful friend to many; beloved for helping those in need without any expectation of recompense.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday April 27, 2017 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore funeral home, 508 E. Linden Ave., Miamisburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday at funeral home with Pastor Ted Rastatter officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 PM on Friday at Rose Hill Burial Park, 4781 S. Charleston Pike, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Dayton Art Institute scholarship fund. Personal condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting Millie’s online memorial at www.gebhartschmidtparramore.com
