Robert Bob Henry Nimitz

Age 80 of Miamisburg, OH and formerly of Houston, TX; passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011 at Hospice of Butler-Warren County. Bob was born March 30, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Rudolph Henry and Kathryn (Brashear) Nimitz. Also preceding him in death is his beloved wife of 55 years, Carrie Nell (Roberts) Nimitz who passed away in June, 2011 and by his sister, Johanna Moerch. Bob and Carrie are survived by daughters, Juli Nimitz and her husband, Mark Ott of West Chester, OH, Victoria Nimitz and her husband, Mel Wisler of Bellbrook, OH, Barrie Nimitz of Houston, TX; sons, Jeff Nimitz of Houston, TX, and Andy Nimitz of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Caroline Su of Columbus, OH and Natalya Nimitz of Atlanta, GA; a step granddaughter, Liesel Gresham and her two children Aidan and Morgan of Winston-Salem, NC; sister, Nancy Powell of Columbus, OH; and a brother, John and his wife, Gabby Nimitz of Charleston, W. VA. Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Julia Margaret (Hayes) Roberts and by her brothers and sisters. Bob earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering and worked with Uranium Enrichment Department of Goodyear Atomic in Piketon and the Miamisburg Mound for over 30 years. Carrie worked as a secretary with Goodyear Atomic in Piketon and this is where she met Bob and they were married on November 4, 1956. A memorial service, celebrating Bob and Carrie’s life together, will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 4:00 pm at Gebhart~Schmidt~Parramore Funeral Home, 508 East Linden Ave., Miamisburg, OH 45342 with Pastor Norm Coleman officiating. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Hospice of Dayton, in Bob or Carrie’s memory.
