Susan Sue J. Shumaker Doty

“Sue”, age 79 of Miamisburg, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was born November 15, 1933 in Adams County, Ohio to the late, Orin and Ethel (Cupp) Shumaker. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Joseph C. “Bud” Doty (December 2008); sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Anne and Ralph Kleinbeck and Donna (Doty) and Richard Pettit. She is survived by her daughters, Malinda J. “Lindy” (Ron) Owensby of League City, TX, Malissa S. “Missy” (Jamie) Wolfe of Olathe, KS and Samantha J. “Mandy” (Kevin) Wechter of Jackson, OH; granddaughters, Madison C. and Meredith C. Wolfe, Mazie E. and Addie M. Wechter; nieces, Beth Ives and Kris Shinkle and a nephew, Craig Kleinbeck. Susan was a 1951 graduate of Winchester High School and went on to receive her BA at Bowling Green State University. She was employed as music teacher with the Miamisburg City Schools for over 5 decades. Susan was a member of St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing and teaching piano, bird watching, antiquing, volunteering at church, gardening, wild-life, nature and most of all, spending time with her grandkids. Family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Thursday, August 22 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, August 23 at St. Jacob Lutheran Church, Miamisburg, officiated by Pastor Michael G. Hout. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Winchester, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jacob Lutheran Church, 213 E. Central Ave., Miamisburg, OH 45342 or the Humane Society, 1661 Nicholas Rd. Dayton, OH 45418, in Susan’s memory.
