Billy was developmentally disabled and could not speak. However, he was able to convey his wishes to his parents and caregivers. Billy attended special schools due to his disabilities in Tallahassee , Florida, Nashville, Tennessee, and Dayton, Ohio. He lived with his parents until 1994, when he was able to go to a group home at the age of 26.
Up until recently he was a healthy and happy young man. However, over the past three years he had several bouts of pneumonia and had to have a tracheotomy to help him breathe. At that time he had to leave his group home and go to a nursing home.
Everybody loved Billy. He was a joy to be around. Everyone wanted to take care of him.
God wanted him more. He is at peace now. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents Dr. and Mrs. Rodney Hammond of Atlanta, Ga., aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Special thanks to auntie Cathi and uncle Eli Halley and all of Billy's caregivers, especially Randy Riffle and Yolanda Brewer.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 PM on Friday, September 9, 2022 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg.
