

ALVA G. STONE, who lost a courageous battle with cancer, celebrated his 80th birthday in August. He was the devoted husband of Nancy for 60 years; cherished father of Kathleen (William) Mitchell, Jeannette (Dick) Sarpola, Audrey Peters, Beverly (Peter) Ronkos, and Lisa (Kevin) Michaels; beloved "Granka" of Melissa, William, Matthew and Michael Mitchell, George Sarpola, TJ and Christa Peters, Danielle and Jared Ronkos, Allison, Nathan, and Gretchen Michaels. Graduated West Tech High School. Class of 1949, and Hall of Fame inductee of West Tech Alumni Assn. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a topographer and was a volunteer with the Seaman Service. He graduated from Baldwin-Wallace with a BBA degree 1980. Served as chairman of the Tax Review Board of Brook Park for 21 years. Master Mason and member of North Star Lodge 638, the Lake Erie Consistory and Al Koran Shrine. National Association of Parliamentarians member, Lakewood West Shore Unit. Private pilot, enjoyed flying his Cessna 172. 20 year member of AOPA and avid walker of the Valley Vagabonds. Owned and operated ANS Sales for more than 20 years. Member, for more than 18 years, of the Lutheran Elderhood Foundation Board of the Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve.
