Charles R. Thomas

CHARLES R. THOMAS, age 64. Beloved husband of 30 years to Amy (nee Radomski). Loving and devoted father of Jacob, Julia and Ryan. Dearest son of Robert (deceased) and Audrey (nee Douglas). Dear brother of Douglas (Kathy) and Nancy Grifo (James). Dear son in law of Edward and Joan Radomski. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Charlie was a talented and prodigious chef.  He worked in kitchens around the world, including a few years at The Grand Olde House in the Cayman Islands.  Charlie traveled the world, and his travels often centered around finding fresh local food.  Charlie and Amy loved returning to the Caribbean Islands, where they first met, as often as life would allow.  But perhaps the family’s most memorable moments were made on Apple Valley Lake in Howard OH, where Charlie delighted in making mouthwatering dishes for his loved ones.

Charlie’s huge personality filled any room he entered. His warmth and humor created communities wherever he went.  His multi-course wine dinners hosted for friends and family are now legendary.  Charlie’s intense devotion to his family and to his “brothers of another mother” was undeniable. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Celebration of Life Service Sunday December 11, 2022 at the funeral home 2:30 PM. The family will receive friends SUNDAY 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM at the A. RIPEPI & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS (WEST OF I-71).
