Edward C. Pawlak Sr., age 66, passed away October 2, 2022. Devoted father to Edward Pawlak Jr., Jamie Pawlak, Allison Dirk (Andrew), Stefanie Grove (Matthew) and Brandy Pawlak. Loving grandfather to Aliya, Garrett, William, Bianca, Ethan, Zoey, Luca and Sylus. Brother to Paul Pawlak, deceased (Susan), Kathleen Heaton (Michael), Debra Bryda (Kenneth), Sandra Swislocki (Thomas) and Robert Pawlak (Willa). Dear son of the late Casimir and Florence Pawlak (nee Lest).
Nephew to Auntie Arlene Onyx (Wally, deceased) Uncle to many nieces and nephews, especially nephew Sean Pawlak. Chewy, Ed's K-9 companion will greatly miss him.
Ed was born and raised in Cleveland’s Slavic Village neighborhood. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary elementary school and South High School. He was very close to his family and was a proud father of 5 and grandfather of 8. He loved being a “mommy’s boy” and a brother you could always count on.
He was a hardworking certified Master Tech auto mechanic, and formerly owned a tow truck business and a snow plow business. Ed was an active guy and always on the go. He loved fixing cars, finding used car parts at the Pull-A-Part junkyard, and getting on the garage floor under a car. He saw so much potential in an old used car to repair and resell. He took great pride in helping his friends and family by repairing their cars and getting them back on the road again. He always said “service with a smile”. He was sure to teach his son, Eddie, his auto mechanic skills and even taught his daughters how to get their hands dirty and check the oil and fill air in their tires. As the son of a carpenter, he was also very handy and could fix anything. He helped his kids with kitchen remodels and building furniture and anything they needed. His skills even made him an excellent dog groomer for his yorkie, Chewy.
Nothing made him happier than a good hot dinner with his whole family. He loved Cleveland Browns football, Fall weather, clam bakes, steak & lobster, and his famous homemade chicken noodle soup. He loved fishing on Lake Erie with his son, son in law, and nephews.
He was a big guy with big hugs and the biggest heart. He had a loud voice and loved cracking jokes and laughing really hard. He often told his kids, “you only get me ‘til I’m 60, the rest is a bonus”. He was their very own Superman who somehow never lost his strength and never gave up. He was a man who gave everything he had. He will be forever missed by his family.
