FRANK R. HILFER, age 82. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Mayich). Loving father of Amy Fontana (Duane Meyer) and Matthew Hilfer. Cherished grandfather of Jack, Sam, Max and Will Fontana. Dear brother of Tim Hilfer an the late Beverly Stuckey (Tom). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you have a Miller Lite in his memory.
Frank loved the Cleveland Indians, Miller Lite, cigars, dad jokes, and most of all his family. He met the love of his life at 19.They were complete opposites, yet the perfect balance. Their love of family was a bond that couldn't be broken. He was extremely proud of his four grandsons and loved spending time with them. He took being a Grandpa seriously, being sure he taught all of them how to play Poker, Rummy, checkers, and how to drink Pepsi for breakfast before they even entered kindergarten. (He probably taught them how to swear too, but no one has admitted it!) Most importantly, he taught them love and loyalty for their family. No matter the day or time, he was always there for us.
Another one of Frank's greatest qualities was his amazingly quick wit. His jokes came out of nowhere, and were sure to bring a smile (or an eye roll) to everyone's face. Sometimes he would laugh so hard at himself that we couldn't help but join in. We will truly miss the joy he brought to our lives. Amy and the boys were incredibly blessed to have him living with them for the past two years. They will be forever grateful for the extra time they had with him.
A special thank you to the staff at The Renaissance in Olmsted Township for the incredible love and care they gave him over the past three months.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday December 13, 2024 at 12:30 PM in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Westlake, Ohio.
