GAETANO “TOM” BONVISSUTO age 93. Passed surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Rose for 66 years. Loving father of Charles (Donna) and Vincent (Patti). Cherished grandfather of Christina Weber (Brian), Theresa Holland (Joseph), Allison and Lisa (fiancé Nolan). Great grandfather of Michael and Emmaline Weber. Dear brother to the late Michele and Rosa Bona (Giovanni).
Tom came to America in March 1948 from Licata, Sicily at the age of 18. He joined his father who had been working in Cleveland to support the family in Licata, to pursue the American Dream and immediately went to work at Crucible Steel in Cleveland. Soon after Tom's arrival, he met the love of his life, Rose. They courted for 6 years before getting married in 1954, and went on to raise two sons; Charles and Vince. Tom began to work at Carling's Brewery in Cleveland in 1952, driving a tow motor in their warehouse for 19 years until the plant closed. From there he worked in the food industry, first for Alesci's in Maple Heights, and then as a deli manager at Fazio's Grocery Store in Cleveland. In 1984 he decided to open his own Italian Restaurant, called Vinny's Pizza and Pasta Place in Broadview Heights. It was a family run business where he served countless satisfied customers and also met many fantastic family and friends along the way. He and Rose retired in 1997 so that they could spend the rest of their lives enjoying what they cherished the most, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Tom was a model for unbelievable work ethic and was most of all a devoted family man whose loved ones meant everything to him. His main goal in life was always to provide for their well being. His passing has reunited him with Rose, who died in 2020 after 66 wonderful years of marriage and 72 years together, and who he dearly missed. He will be forever remembered and loved by his family.
