I worked with Jim at MHPD for many years and always enjoyed chatting with him..    You will be missed by many!

I worked with Jim at Oro Valley Transit for the past three years.  Usually we would both be scheduled for Saturday morning shifts and I always looked forward to seeing Jim in his cowboy hat with his his grin.  Always a great attitude and a fun guy to be around.  Jim be sorely missed by myself and other drivers and many passengers.

I first met Jim 3 yrs ago while playing pickle ball in Sun City. He was an advanced player & I was fairly new, meaning not that good. On occasion, I would venture into the advanced group of players & Jim would always welcome me w/ a smile & say, come on Carol, I'll play w/ you. I also severed on the PB board w/ him. He always spoke his mind & you always knew where he stood which I admired. And yet he had a humorous side, loved to joke, laugh, had a quirky smile. And if you ever needed a volunteer or help w/ anything, Jim was always there, the 1st to step forward.  Jim will be sorely missed. 

To his family, please accept my sincerest condolences. To the folks that  stopped, rendered aid, & stayed w/ Jim so he wasn't alone, Bless you. Jim, we love you, rest in peace.

I had the honor of working with Jim at Middleburg Heights Police Department for many, many years. I was blessed to know him and call him my friend. Skipper, you are sorely missed.

My siblings Michael Norbury, Emily Norbury and I were some of the first on scene of Jamesâ€™ accident in Colorado, and were with him in his last moments. His obituary was shared with us and in addition to donating to the suicide prevention charity in honor of Lisa, we wanted to express our sincerest apologies and condolences to his family and friends. Though we didnâ€™t know him, the experience we had with him will forever stay with us. Sending lots of love and prayers to you all. â¤ï¸

Jim was part of a tight circle of pickleball players in Sun City Oro Valley and stood out as a fierce, fair, and joyful competitor. He was loved and admired by all who had the opportunity to know him in our club. Such a loss will take a while to recover from but we can be glad for our myriad great memories! RIP, Jim.

As mayor of the city of Middleburg Heights, I had a pleasure of working with Jim who in my opinion was an exceptional and dedicated police officer for our city. He was one of the first officers that I hired when we changed the requirement that new officers hired had to have a four year degree in law enforcement. He came up through the ranks and was promoted to lieutenant. As a lieutenant, he demonstrated his extraordinary leader ship qualities and was a role model for new officers coming on to the police force. Police officers in todayâ€™s turbulent times must have the respect and admiration for putting their lives on the line to protect us.  Lastly, thank you Jim for your military service in the United States Navy.

Jim was such a likable guy. I knew him through our Sun City pickleball club. He always had a hello and a big smile. He was fun to watch on the court and had amazing acrobatic moves as he chased down balls. He was a strong player but would play at a level to make the game enjoyable for everyone. Winning wasnâ€™t important as long as everyone was having a good time. We all mourn his untimely passing. He will be missed but always remembered.

Jim was a great guy and made a huge positive impact in the short time he lived here in Sun City Oro Valley, AZ.  I initially met Jim through pickleball, and Kactus Kickers country dance club. He also played pop tennis and after would cool off in the Desert Oasis pool with all the ladies (and Mike B.)  He will be missed by all who knew him.   Thanks to those who tried to help Jim at the accident site and spent in his last moments together so he wasn't alone.

I only knew Jim for a brief time but he left a truly lasting memory.  He was why I joined the Sun City Oro Valley Euchre club.  He would need to leave our pickleball games on Monday slightly early so he could get to Euchre. He was fun, earnest, talented pickleball and euchre player.  He will missed by so many whose lives he touched.

Deb and I are still in disbelief that Jim has left us. It will be so incredibly hard to return to our home on Biltmore drive and see Jim's house across the street and know he will never again come pulling up to our house to chat, with a smile on his face.  We have to believe that God has greater plans for Jim and that is why he took him from us. Jim was not just a friend to Deb and me, he was family and that makes it so hard to grasp what happened and say Goodbye, we are still in shock. Like so many of us in SCOV, we were honored with Jims presents on the courts, playing games, dancing and having him be a member of our community. Two weeks before we left for Oregon, I finally convince Jim to play water volleyball with us. I could tell right away he was going to be a force in the pool. One time while dancing he seriously asked me, what was the difference between the 10 step and 16 step pattern dances? I looked up to him and told him 6 steps, he looked at me with that quirky look he would get and simply said "well that was a duh! question". We had many good laughs together about that moment.  That was simply part of Jim's great sense of humor. Jim was an amazing friend, neighbor and part of our family. We will miss him terribly, we love you Jim and know you are in God's heaven.

Sharing just one memory of my sweet dear friend Jim is a challenge. We met and became fast friends three years ago and I got to know this amazing man as he unfolded.  Funny. Old fashioned. Kind. Smart. Caring. Our community in Arizona is in shock and grief. I send all my love to the family he spoke so proudly about. May his light shine in our hearts forever.

Jim was a great competitor on our pickleball courts here in Sun City Oro Valley! So aggressive that He would occasionally go over the fence after the ball. Everyone respected Jim and enjoyed playing with and against him. A small pickleball with his name has been placed on the fence in his memory. He is sorely missed already.

Jim and I met soon after his moving to Sun City. Our common bond was the military and motorcycles. As our friendship grew we rode our motorcycles locally for breakfast or lunch and took 2 long 10-14 day trips visiting a number of western states, National Parks and monuments. Jim's laugh was always contagious. Jim's kind heart would always support anyone without hesitation. He will be greatly missed. Mike LaBarbera

Jim and I met soon after he moved to Sun City. Our common bond was the military and motorcycles.  Jim was a member of the Veterans Club and many others. We took numerous breakfast and lunch motorcycle trips together which we both enjoyed. We also took two separate 10â€“14 day motorcycle trips visiting 6 western states, seeing a number of National Parks and monuments.  Jim's laughter was always contagious, and his generosity was enormous.  My sincerest condolences to Jim's family. He will be sorely missed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim over a year ago in Sun City. I joined the Sun City Oro Valley Pickleball Club Board, Jim and I were Board Members together. What I respected and admired about Jim is he had a great sense of humor, and he didn't hold much back either, he said what was on his mind which I loved. Jim was always nice to people, very friendly, easy going guy, he loved life. The world could use more people like Jim with his easy, fun loving demeanor. May God Bless Jim.

I was a friend of Jimâ€™s here in Sun City. For several years, we played pickleball, shared evening games, and, most importantly shared some laughs. Jim was an amazing person and very much loved here.

He led by example on the courts and taught me to not take the game so seriously- often he would say, â€œitâ€™s just pickleballâ€.  However, he was a fierce player and often crashed into or flipped over the fence to retrieve a ball! Most importantly, Jim included people, he made us feel like we belonged on the courts, and he cared about us.

I will miss Jimâ€™s sense of humor, his quick wit, and his great smile. We are left with a huge empty space without him. 

To you, his loved family, please know you are in my thoughts.
