James (Jim) M. Steinmetz died on June 18, 2024 in a tragic motorcycle accident in Colorado. At his time of death, Jim was on his annual motorcycle trip, where he spent several joyful days visiting mountains, landmarks, and national parks. Jim was an avid athlete in his youth, participating in wrestling, football, and track. He graduated from Baldwin Wallace College with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Following graduation, Jim spent four years as an Officer in the U.S. Navy. Jim was a retired Police Officer. He served a 25+ year career with the Middleburg Heights Police, where he retired at the rank of Lieutenant.
After retirement, Jim moved to the Tucson, Arizona area. He was a beloved member of his community, participating in pickleball, square dancing, Euchre (as a true Midwesterner), and many other hobbies and activities. As Jim frequently expressed, his wish was to become a part-time bus driver in retirement. He fulfilled that wish, and worked for years as a shuttle bus driver where he transported riders to and from medical appointments.
