

JOHN JACOB WESSEL, age 39. Devoted father of Evelyn, Jackson, and Hank; beloved son of Carol Wessel and Gene Wessel (Sandy); cherished brother of Brian Wessel (Holly), Elyse Carman (Andrew), and Eric Glowacki (Lisa Seminatore); loving grandson of the late John and Joan Wirtz, and John and Rose Wessel; his last love Stephanie Morhidge; companion of his dear bulldog Gunther; also survived by many loving great-aunts, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
John was a kind, thoughtful man with a heart of gold. He had a lasting impact on everyone he met. John loved trucks, camping, sports and his children. Growing up he was active in recreation league basketball and baseball, was on the Track Team at Valley Forge High School and played football in High School (Big Wess #75), Muskingum University and Ohio Wesleyan University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree.
John became a teacher with the Parma School District and then a Dean of Students at Greenbriar Middle School. While teaching, he continued his education earning two Master’s Degrees in Health and Administration. John’s continued interest in law enforcement led to a career change. He became a Corrections Officer full time with Lake County Sheriff’s Department and part-time with the North Royalton Police Department.
John was a wonderful father and absolutely loved spending time with his three beautiful children. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and co-workers. A Celebration of his life will be 6:00 pm Friday July 26, 2024 at the funeral home.
