Karen Stiles Burgess, 78, of Brunswick, formerly of Marblehead, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026. Born in Cleveland, she was the daughter of the late Ralph B. Stiles Jr. and Anna Mae (Byers) Stiles.
Karen was the devoted and loving mother of the late Kimberly Burgess, a loss she carried in her heart always. She was a cherished sister to Thomas (Christina) Stiles and the late Ralph B. Stiles III (Laurie, deceased), and a proud and loving aunt to Thomas (Kristen) Stiles Jr. and Ryan Stiles. She delighted in being a great-aunt to Zoe Stiles and Thomas Stiles III, and was a dear cousin and loyal friend to many who were blessed to know her.
For many years, Karen found her greatest peace at her cottage in Marblehead, where the lake, her close circle of friends, and countless hours of fishing brought her joy. She was a longtime member of the Women’s Auxiliary at VFW Post 2480 in Port Clinton, where she valued camaraderie and service.
Known for her feisty spirit and stubborn determination, Karen was equally remembered for her generous heart, quick wit, and unwavering loyalty to those she loved. She lived life on her own terms and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
In keeping with Karen’s wishes, all services were private. She was laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park.
