Michael J. Mehalic

MICHAEL J. MEHALIC, age 63. Devoted father of Jessica Bennett (Brian), Michael (Linda Miller), Nicholas (Jacqueline), Jaclyn Stark (Colin), and Payton Vince; cherished grandfather of 17; dear son of Betty and George Sr.; caring brother of George Jr. (Lois), and Zeke (Avery).

Mike Mehalic, aka “The Kid”, was born in New Castle, PA and grew up an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan. His nickname “The Kid” came from him running around with his older brother where he would usually get himself into trouble. He recalled many childhood memories camping in the mountains with his family and also visiting his extended family in PA. He loved playing sports, especially his softball days that he started as a teen and carried over into his adult life. He was also on many golf, bowling, and billiard leagues where he made many good friends. He was a proud father of 5 children. He worked as a grocer for the past 46 years starting his career at Pick-N-Pay at the age of 16 and ending at Giant Eagle. After a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer, he died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 12 noon Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends SATURDAY (October 28th) 10 AM – 12 NOON at the A. RIPEPI AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH (West of I-71).
