Richard Naumann, 93, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025. He was born in 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Max and Minnie (Thomas) Naumann. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Ruth Craven (John).
Carole Naumann, 87, passed away on January 1, 2023. She was born in 1935, also in Cleveland, the daughter of George and Helen (Murphy) Martens. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings—Bill Martens, Bruce Martens (Mary), and Helen Burney (Jon)—who continue to mourn the loss of their cherished sister.
Richard and Carole were married for 67 years, building a life centered on family. They are survived by their three children—Bruce, Gary (Mary Ann), and Lisa—who are deeply grateful for the many years they shared with their parents. Richard graduated from James Ford Rhodes High School, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Puerto Rico, and went on to spend his entire career with the Ohio Bell Telephone Company where he was known for his humor and practical jokes.
A talented singer, he found joy performing with the Ohio Bell Chorus and the camaraderie of the group remained one of his fondest memories. He was also passionate about ham radio and was an active member of the amateur radio community. He generously donated his collection to a local school club that introduces children to the world of radio—a fitting tribute to his lifelong love of connection and communication.
Carole graduated from St. Joseph Academy and earned her nursing degree from Cuyahoga Community College. She proudly served as a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital, where she brought skill, kindness, and compassion to every patient—whether in the nursery or on home care visits. A quiet but constant lifelong volunteer, Carole gave her time selflessly, with special dedication to the Redeemer Crisis Center, where she and Richard volunteered well into their later years.
Richard and Carole shared a love of travel, both across the U.S. and abroad. Many summers were spent exploring the country in their fifth-wheel camper and creating lasting memories—especially with their grandchildren, who fondly remember time spent together at the camper.
Richard and Carole enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life, and held dear the many memories made with their extended family. Bruce, Gary, and Lisa would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the love and support of Richard’s niece, Linda, and his cousin, Carolyn. They also extend special thanks to the beloved cousins—Carole deeply cherished the joyful moments you shared over the years and always looked forward to your treasured “cousins’ lunches”.
Mom, you will be forever missed.
