Rick Zone was a man who filled every room, porch, and sidewalk he touched with warmth, humor, and unmistakable style. Born on July 28, 1948, Rick built a life defined by love, family, hard work, and a deep pride in his Italian roots. He was a man full of life, love, and character.
Rick married the love of his life, Christine “Chris” (nee Koubek), on November 29, 1969, and together they raised four daughters: Kim, Katy (Jeff Kohl, deceased), Kara, and Kris (Josh Ventry.) To his six grandchildren — Isabella, Colin, Quinn, Kamille, Matilda, and Henry — he was simply “Papa,” a role he cherished above all else. Dearest brother of John Zone (Chris), Retired Judge Joseph Zone (Joan Pellegrin) and Terri Kelsey (Bill). Brother-in-Law of Rose Seitz (Gary), Steve Koubek (Kim) and Karen Balmert (Kenny). Also survived by nieces, nephews, many cousins and dear friends
A proud electrician and lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 38, Rick dedicated his career to his trade and his union brothers and sisters. Outside of work, he earned the title of “honorary mayor of Webster Road,” where he could often be found on the porch, greeting neighbors, swapping stories, and keeping a watchful eye on the community he loved.
Rick’s personality was as recognizable as his wardrobe. Whether in Hawaiian shirts and deck shoes in the summer, rugby shirts in the winter, or always topped with his signature fedora, he carried himself with confidence and flair. A die-hard Cleveland sports fan, he never lost faith in his teams, and his love for fantasy football kept his competitive spirit alive.
Rick’s life was full of simple joys: Friday nights spent at the bar after work with a Windsor and water, crossword puzzles shared with Chris each day, and special texts he sent to his friends every morning — thoughtful gestures that meant more than words could say. Above all, Rick treasured time with his family, whose laughter and love were the true center of his world.
Rick leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, loyalty, and love. His presence will be deeply missed, but his stories, traditions, and spirit will live on in all who knew him.
