Robert (Bob) Fallon, Sr. died Saturday, October 28, 2023. For those lucky enough to know Bob, we are forever grateful that he graced our ‘worlds.’ Bob, as he was known to most of us, loved being with people and genuinely made all who met him feel seen and welcomed. He had a passion for music, golf, gardening, faith and all things Irish. His vast CD collection contained over 30,000 songs, and he spent countless hours making CD compilations for friends and family. Anyone fortunate to have one of these CDs, you’ll be able to hear Bob’s voice as he made introductions to each CD to give the listener context and to share his joy of music.
Bob was a parishioner at Saint Bartholomew. He and his wife, Colleen, were welcomed into the community when they moved to the Cleveland area in 1978. He was very active in the church and enjoyed his time as a member of the Holy Name Society, serving as a eucharistic minister, volunteering with the Catholic Charities, and sponsoring individuals in the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program. Bob changed many lives through his time in the RCIA program – fostering deep connections of faith through his knowledge and love of the Catholic Church.
Bob was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 14, 1931 to Frank and Mildred Fallon. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers John, Frank, and Larry; and sister Mildred. He attended Saint Thomas More High School and graduated from Villanova University in 1953. He was lucky to have many years to root for great basketball teams out of Villanova – go Wildcats.
Bob was drafted by the United States Army in 1954; he served as a Staff Sergeant in Korea from 1954-55. He then returned to America to continue his career at Eaton Corporation, where he worked until 1997. Not only did he come back to a job, but he also came back to a job where he met his future wife – Colleen. Bob and Colleen were married on December 1, 1962. Two boys followed – Robert (Bobby), Jr. in 1968 and David in 1969. The boys’ involvement in afterschool activities kept them young and busy! Bob served as a Cub Scout Master, Little League baseball coach, and statistician for St. Bart’s football. Bob and Colleen still found time to take many cruises over the years with close friends.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife Colleen; sons Robert (Debra) and David (Erin); and grandchildren Patrick, Jaret, Avery, Ava, and Sophia. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2nd from 3-7 pm at Craciun Funeral Home located at 14925 Bagley Rd., Middleburg Heights, OH 44130. A mass will be held on Friday, November 3rd at 10 am at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church. Please carry on Bob’s love of Christmas this holiday season – he lovingly decorated the family home every year even if it meant a bump on his head as he retrieved decorations from the attic (yes, every year)!
