He was born in France and raised in Cordenons, Italy, the son of the late Dominico and Regina (Fantinel) Roman. Robert was the beloved husband of 58 years to Barbara (nee Maringo); loving father of Anthony Roman and Christina Wellman; cherished grandfather of Cierra, Celeste and Cayli Wellman and great-grandfather of Aaliya; dear brother of Bruno Roman and the late John (Antoinetta); adored uncle, brother-in-law and friend of many.
Robert was a US Army veteran and retired from NASA following 35 dedicated years of employment as an Aerospace Mechanic. Humble in spirit and rich in love, he was the kind of man who never sought the spotlight, yet lit up every room with quiet strength and kindness. A devoted and doting grandfather, his pride and joy were always his family.
With hands that nurtured both gardens and people, he brought life to everything he touched—from blooming flowerbeds to home repairs done with care and precision. An avid gardener and trusted handyman, he found peace in the soil and purpose in fixing what was broken.
In his moments of rest, you'd find him with a deck of cards in hand, smiling over a friendly game, sharing stories, and creating memories that now live on in the hearts of those who loved him most.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 15, 2025 from 4PM-8PM at Craciun Funeral Home, 14925 Bagley Rd., Middleburg Heights, OH 44130. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10AM at Mary Queen of the Apostles Catholic Parish, 6455 Engle Rd., Brook Park, Ohio. Committal service with Army military honors will follow at 115PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio
