

Stanley John Tinder, age 85, of Lockport, previously of Middleport, entered into rest on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Niagara Hospice in Lockport surrounded by his loving family. Born July 17, 1930 in Gaines, PA, Stanley is the son of the late: Stephen and Anna Grace (Wetmore) Tinder.
Stanley served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Bernice (Gallup) Tinder on June 8, 1957. She died in 2004. He had worked as a music teacher at Royalton-Hartland Central Schools for over 30 years. He was a member of the Middleport United Methodist Church and the Clute Phillips American Legion of Middleport and past member of the Lock City Glee Club. Stanley enjoyed being with family, and cooking.
Surviving are his children: Mary Lou (Albert) Barrett, Maxine (Charles) Kudel, Tamura (Robert Jeffrey) Stratton and Timothy (Celene) Tinder. Brother of: Robert (the late Marg) Tinder, and the late: Eldon, Alvoid, Marylou, Eloise, Cora, Dorothy, Andrew and Veronica. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street, Middleport on Friday, from 4 to 7 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am from Middleport United Methodist Church, 5 Park Avenue, Middleport, NY.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Middleport United Methodist Church or Niagara Hospice.
