

He is preceded in death by his parents Nellie and William Casstevens, and his sister, Judy King.
Gene is survived by his wife Mary (Hufziger) Casstevens; children Kenny (Janet) Casstevens, Michele Howell, Sara (Dermot) Fagan, Michael (Katie) Skalley, Jonathan (Kristen) Casstevens; grandchildren Zachary Hudson, Breeze Howell, Kelsey and Nick Casstevens, Kaylin, Alexa and Asher Skalley, Charlie Casstevens; great-grandchild Adelyn Hudson; and his sister Joyce Calendar.
Gene retired from General Motors. During those years, he also served as a police officer in Lemon Township. In retirement, he enjoyed working at United Lubricants, Stericycle, and in public service with MedPro. Lesser known was his love of flying. He was a Black Belt in Taekwondo, and he coached Little League baseball as well as 5th grade basketball. He was a big-hearted man who stayed in touch with his sons’ friends in the military, always showing them kindness and respect. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum, 1401 S. Woodside Blvd., Middletown Ohio. Date and time to be announced. In honor of his memory, the family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul in Middletown, Ohio.
