Charles Bennie Whalin

Charles (Sonny) was born in Holly Creek, Oklahoma on April 20, 1935 to Ben and Leona Whalin. He attended school in Holly Creek. Charles was married to Jackie Hunt on December 30, 1954.

Charles worked as a ceramic tile contractor for over 26 years. Charles enjoyed family, friends, and traveling. Charles and Jackie were members of the PBMA motorcycle club and of the Permian Basin Dance Club.

Charles is preceded in death by his father, Ben, mother, Leona and sister, Bertha Clowers.

Charles is survived by his wife Jackie; daughter Beverly Couch and husband Ken; grandson Chris McCullough and wife Jennifer and granddaughter Kasey Stokes and husband Zach. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Jean Clowers; five great grandchildren, Kaylee McCullough, Kaeson McCullough, Jayden McCullough, Gavin McCullough and Maverick Stokes and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Ellis Funeral Home. There will be a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the First Southern Baptist Church at 6849 Goldenrod Drive in Gardendale, Texas with Pastor Terry Easley officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101.
