

Eugene R. Douglas, 91, of Midland passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013. He was born on September 18, 1922 in Cleburne, Texas to Mae Glasgow and Roy Douglas. The family moved to Ft. Worth in 1925 where Gene attended school and graduated from Paschal High School in 1940. The family was a member of Central Methodist Church. Gene was a member of Troop 42 in the Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout. He began college at Texas Christian University majoring in Geology in 1940. He graduated from TCU in 1947 after serving in the United States Army Engineers in Europe during World War II.
Gene married Betty Tomlinson Douglas in September 1946 in Ft. Worth. After graduating they moved to Midland, Texas where he began work with Atlantic Refining Company as a staff geologist. They lived in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and California during his 38 years with Atlantic Refining Company.
Betty and Gene belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Midland. He was an Emeritus Member of the AAPG.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bill Douglas.
Those left behind to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Betty; his daughters, Carolyn and husband RW Henderson of Midland, and Barbara and husband Mike Stoltz of Midland; his grandchildren: Joy Henderson of Lubbock, Lisa Henderson of San Angelo, Christopher Stoltz and wife Erica of Ft. Worth, Stephen Stoltz and wife Jessica of Woodbridge, VA, and Michael Stoltz and wife Lauren of Midland. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren: Hadley Rae Stoltz, Riley Erin Stoltz and Jonathan Michael Stoltz.
