Gloria Mae Edwards left this life on June 8, 2013, passing into the waiting arms of her mother and Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born in Borger, Texas on November 15, 1937. Gloria grew up in a loving and supportive family, raised by her mother, Margaret Beatrice Edwards Barr, and grandparents, Willie Mae and Ed Edwards. She graduated from Borger High School in 1956 and attended Frank Phillips College with aspirations of becoming an Opera singer. She left Borger in 1958 to start her career in banking at Amarillo National Bank and met her best friend and partner for life, Millie Boren. Shortly after meeting, the two moved to Midland, Texas and remained loving partners for 55 years. Gloria excelled in the banking industry and became Vice President of Lending at First Bankers Trust. She mentored people throughout her career and was loved and respected as a leader. Upon retirement, she and Millie stepped into the clothing industry with the opening of Gloria & Millie’s Large Fashions and was a staple for specialty clothing in the Midland Community for over nine years. She leaves a legacy all of us would like, loved ones full of cherished memories, truly touched by her presence and their lives enriched because of their relationship with her.
