The beginning date is his date of birth, and the ending date is the date he passed away. The dash that separates those two dates is everything in between.

James knew it was never the “stuff” that defined a man, nor the dates of his arrival or passing; rather it was the life and love he packed into that dash in the middle.

And for all who knew and loved Gonzo, that dash was anything but little!
