

He was a graduate of The Ohio State University and served proudly as a Lieutenant in the US Navy. As a member of the crew of the USS Staff (a mine sweeper), he was entitled to wear the American Theater Ribbon, the European Theater Ribbon with two stars representing participation in the Bombardment and the D-Day Invasion of the French Coast on 6 June 1944 and the Invasion of Southern France on 15 August 1944, and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with one star for participation in the Okinawa Gunto Operation from 9 June 1945 to 30 June 1945. He was also awarded the World War II Victory medal for his service.
After the war, he moved to Midland with his wife and two year old daughter and began his long career as a Petroleum Geologist. He has resided in Midland since then, raising a family of four children with his wife. He and his wife are charter members of Hope Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth and grandson Matt.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Walker of Leander, Texas, son Jim and wife Barbara of Midland, Texas, son Doug and wife Donna also of Midland, Texas, and daughter Maria Jones and husband Jason of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He lived his life as an embodiment of our American Ideals for the last 94 years.
A visitation will be held Monday, July 6, 2015, at Ellis Funeral Home from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Graveside services will be 9:00am on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Resthaven Memorial Park, with Becky Hand officiating.
