

Joe Olguin was born March 14, 1937 to Josephine and Gasper Olguin. He served as a Marine from 1954 to 1976, when he retired. Joe worked for 4 years for UTPB as the director of purchasing. He also worked as an Allstate agent from 1979 to 1999, before he retired. He loved his baby dog, Princess. Joe was a devoted grandfather to his granddaughter Autum who he and Goldie raised until she was a young teen. Autum lovingly referred to him as “Daddy”. His presence will be missed in all of our lives. He is survived by his wife Goldie N. Olguin, daughter, Debra Olguin Murphree and husband Guy; granddaughter, Autum G. Olguin of Midland; Brother, Gilbert Olguin of Pueblo, Colorado; brother, Dennis Olguin of Denver, Colorado; sister, Shirley Serrato of Walsenberg, Colorado; aunt, Helen Olguin of Denver, Colorado; mother-in-law, Mattie Baker of Texarkana, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Joe Hunt of Texarkana, Arkansas. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by son, Mitchell Keith Olguin, who passed away in 1984; brother, Terry Olguin. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Ellis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park – North. Pallbearers will be Guy Murphree, Jarrett Stewart, Pat Murphree, Jeff Murphree, Dick Thomas and Larry Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Gina Nored and Joe Busbee.
