

Aletra Joy Bigby was born December 6, 1929, in Fort Worth, Texas to Willis and Velma Vann. She met the love of her life, Marvin Neal Bigby in Fort Worth and they were married September 24, 1960. They moved to Midland in 1961. They were married for 48 years until his death in March, 2009.
Joy worked for Southwestern Bell telephone until her retirement in 1988. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren and helping them in their musical pursuits with the violin, cello and piano. She was an accomplished violinist and passed her passion for music on to her son and grandchildren.
Joy is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Marvin.
Joy is survived by her sister Carolyn Tennyson of Houston, son Mike and wife Beverly, granddaughter Stephanie Pyle and husband Chris of Houston, grandsons Micah Bigby and wife Janice of Midland, Matthew Bigby of Midland and great-grandchildren Kairi Tennyson, Alexander Pyle, Maddox Bigby and nephews Kyle Tennyson and Jerry Bigby and niece Kathryn Edmonds.
The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the staff at Amazing Grace for the special care they gave her, the 4th floor staff at Midland Memorial for their help and Dr. Bartha for all he did for her.

A visitation will be held Monday December 10, 2012, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ellis Funeral Home 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas 79701.
Services will be held Tuesday December 11, 2012, at 1:00 pm at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens in Midland, Texas.
