Janie was born on March 7,1949, in Midland, Texas and lived here all her life. She worked for MISD for
14 years and then proceeded to be a caregiver for 40 years. Her hobbies and interests were riding the EZ
rider and helping others in need. She was also involved in many church functions and activities.
Janie is preceded in death by Robert O. Perkins Sr. (husband), Alfredo Hernandez Sr. (father), Anita O.
Hernandez (mother), Alfredo Hernandez, Jr. (brother), Mickey Hernandez (her twin) and many aunts and
uncles.
Janie is survived by three sons, Frank E. Hernandez, Robert O. Perkins, Jr. and Billy J. Perkins, two
daughters Serena P. Salazar and Wendy Turner, Louie Hernandez (brother) and Kelly Ruiz (sister). She is
also survived by fifteen grandchildren: Stephanie Connor, Katelyn Sanders, Audrena Perkins, Di'Sha
Perkins, Robert Perkins III, Brandon Cunningham, Tyler Perkins, Joshua Perkins, Juanita Hernandez,
Matthew Perkins, Frank (Bubba) Hernandez, Jr., Hannah Perkins, Elisha Turner, Lesley Turner and a great
granddaughter, Alexis Perkins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral
service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday May 1, 2014 at the First United Pentecostal Church, 5100
W. Illinois Avenue, with Pastor Benningholf officiating. The burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Robert Perkins, Jr. 4727 W. Illinois, Midland,
Texas 79703. The family of Janie Perkins wishes to thank the Breast Cancer Society, Allison Cancer
