Larry "Buzzy" Eugene Emberton

He enlisted in the US Army in 1967 and served as a Helicopter Gunner in duty stations that included Vietnam, Thailand and Korea. He retired as a Staff Sergeant (E-6) in 1986. He met his wife, Wilma in 1988 and became a father to her son, Shaun, when they married on July 23, 1988 in Long Beach, CA. They moved to New Jersey in 1993 where he built great friendships. In 2014, he moved to Batangas City, Philippines to retire in beautiful weather and to make a home that he built for himself and Wilma.

Buzzy loved to go fishing and loved his fur babies, Shadow and Snowball. He had an extensive collection of old western movies, which was practically all he’d ever watch. He could also shoot a mean game of pool.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin William “Bud” Emberton; and brother-in-law, Gordon Kelly.

Buzzy is survived by his wife, Wilma Emberton of Batangos City, Philippines; daughters, Linda “Mam” Emberton of Cypress, CA and Mary “Annie” Velasquez and wife Maria of Avondale, AZ; stepson, Shaun Arban of Colts Neck, NJ; mother, Reta Miller of Midland; brothers, Arley Joe Emberton and wife Rose of Visalia, CA, Marvin William Emberton, Jr. of Dickinson and Fredrick “Freddy” Garrigan and wife Laura of Kerrville; sister, Judy Kelly of Midland; seven grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 1 godchild.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2 PM at Ellis Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Bartlett officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Arley Joe Emberton, Marvin “Buddy” Emberton, Frederick “Freddy” Emberton, Freddy Hernandez, Jr., Alexander Osborn, Jacob Osborn, Sean Arban and Gregory Velasquez.
