Marjorie Irene Downs

Marjorie Downs, age 91, of Midland, Texas left this Earth on Monday, December 20, 2021 to be at peace. Let us celebrate her life and rejoice.

Marjorie was born March 19, 1930 in East St. Louis, IL. She and her husband purchased Lifetime Lawn Sprinkler Company and moved to Midland in 1968. She enjoyed spending time at their lake house with family and was an avid bridge player, arrowhead hunter, cook and jazz fanatic, things that lasted her entire life. Marjorie was a devoted Catholic and spent her years attending St. Ann's Catholic Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, Francis (Frank) X Downs and daughter, Sharon Kersh.

Survived by sons, Greg (Carol), grandchild Stephanie VanGels (Matt) and great grandchildren, Olivia, Charlotte and Deimonte; Brian (Cindy) and grandchild, Shea (Morgan). Christopher Smith (Jill), great grandchildren, Evan, Natalie, Hudson and Collin; Granddaughter Morgan Kersh (Jonathan Jordan); Granddaughter, Kelly Kersh Cole and great grandchildren, Trey, Hunter, Kase, Daxton and Autumn. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Pita, who was a friend to everyone that she met, whether it was wanted or not.

A visitation for Marjorie will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy, Midland, Texas 79701. A rosary will occur Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 7:00 PM, 801 Andrews Hwy, Midland, Texas 79701. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St Ann's Catholic Church, 1906 W Texas Ave, Midland, Texas 79701. A committal service will occur Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 N Big Spring St, Midland, Texas 79705.
