

Richard C. Broadway, age 85 of Midland, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in Midland County. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Ellis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-7:00pm Tuesday December 22, 2020 at Ellis Funeral Home.
Mr. Broadway was born on August 9, 1935 in Bell County, Texas to the late G.W. and Hazel Barnett Broadway. He was raised in the Belton/Killeen, Texas area. He joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18 and served from July 28 to May 6, 1964 and was honorably discharged as Airman First Class after 10 years of service. He worked at various jobs, his favorite being a correctional officer at the Lionel unit in Ft. Stockton, Texas and the Smith unit in Lamesa, Texas. Richard retired after a 10 year employment from the prison system. Richard returned to the Smith unit to hold bible studies for the offenders, baptizing 21 in Jesus’ name.
Richard met the love of his life, Jacqueline Mortashed in March of 1974 and they were married for 46 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, G.W. Broadway and Monroe Broadway; one sister, Marie Fletcher and one son, Ralph Broadway.
He leaves behind his wife, Jacqueline Broadway of Midland; daughters, Valerie Broadway of California, Tammy Pollock of Nebraska and Donna Ashmore of Midland; sons, Richard Lee Broadway of Nebraska and Doug Broadway of Midland; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Richard loved God, his family and people.
