

Rudy L Arnold, Jr. passed away March 16, 2016 in his home at the Baron Ranch. Rudy was born in 1935 in Brooklyn, New York but grew up in a small town on Long Island graduating from Glen Cove High School. He served in the US Air Force before marrying and starting a family. He continued working for the US government FAA as an air traffic controller for his entire career.
Soon after retirement he left New York and in 2000 made the big move to Stanton, Texas to start the Baron Ranch, a longtime dream. He always loved the peacefulness of a small town and countryside away from the bustling city life.
Rudy’s long time love of baseball, Airforce and its planes, Harley motorcycles, classic cars, sailing ships and yachts and a fascination with the cowboy lifestyle led him on life’s journey. He played in the senior softball league, flew replica remote controlled airplanes, and was a member of the local Motorcycle Club and American Legion and a colonel in the Civil Airforce, He was very social spending dinner with friends and dancing the night away in Midland and later on regular lunches with his buddies at the Senior Citizens Center in Stanton. He loved to hang out with the guys, telling war stories, tall tales and joking around. Rudy was fun loving and always eager to learn and try new things like playing steel string guitar.
He is predeceased by his son Jeffrey Arnold; sister Dagmar L Arnold; brother Kenneth Arnold and parents Rudolph Leo Arnold, Sr. and Dagmar E Arnold.
He is survived by his daughter Leslie Straub.
Mourning his passing with her are brother Clifford Arnold and wife Carol, sister Carolyn Nelson and ex-wife Gail Nelson.
A short funeral service will held on March 25 at 2 pm in the Veteran’s Section at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at 4 pm - 7 pm at Cattle Baron Restaurant, 418 Wadley Ave., Midland, Texas 79705.
