

Tommie was born August 7, 1934 in Lubbock, Texas to Noble & LaVerne Wynn of Post, Texas. Tommie grew up on a farm near Post and attended school in Lubbock. Tommie graduated as a "Westerner" from Lubbock High School in 1952. She then attended Texas Tech University and earned her degree in Education in 1956. Tommie has been a faithful Red Raider fan her entire life. Tommie was very active in her sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma. During her Kappa years in college and as an alumna she frequently served in leadership positions. Tommie was very outgoing and always attempted to make everyone happy and feel welcome.
Tommie became a Mathematics teacher and started her career in Amarillo, Texas in 1956. She moved to Lubbock in 1967 and continued teaching in several Junior High Schools there. Tommie moved to Midland in 1985 and continued teaching at Goddard Junior High School and Midland Christian School. Tommie retired from teaching in 2003 and continued living in Midland. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Tommie loved going to church and was a member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland, Texas. Tommie married John Stephen Dearth on August 7, 1956 at Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock.
Tommie is survived by two daughters and their families: Becca Yocham and husband Todd of Midland and their children: Ryan Yocham and his wife, Shelly, Jason Yocham and his wife Sarah, and Katie Walter and her husband Charlie; and Melissa Dearth of Lubbock along with her sons, Derek Dye, Cody Knotts and Austin Logan.
The family would like to thank Mary Gowen, the staff at Manor Park and Hospice of Midland for their excellent care of Tommie.
There will be a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock on Wednesday, June 28 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at Manor Park Chapel at 3:30 p.m.
