On November 24, 2011, at the age of 76, Treva Gieb passed away suddenly and now rests in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. She was born on September 3, 1935, in Perrin, Texas to James A. and Estelle Smith Boyd. Treva was with Midland National Bank for 25 years and retired as Vice President. On October 27, 1981, Treva married her love, Joe Gieb, Jr. and her life would never be the same. She was instantly surrounded by a new family that loved her dearly. Treva was an avid golfer, Mahjong player and Sudoko master. She was fiercely competitive and she and Joe spent many hours on golf courses throughout the south. She could be found cheering on her grandchildren at any sporting, dancing, singing event. To her, each one was the “best and smartest.” Treva was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband, Joe Gieb, Jr and her children, Gail Gieb Payne and her husband Robert, Janet Gieb Helm and her husband Ron, Buddy Gieb and his wife Holly. Treva’s sister, Nonie Boyd Brown and her husband Bob, “baby” brother James Ken Boyd and his wife Bobbi, nephews, Eddie Brown and his wife Faye and Jerry Brown, along with great-nieces and great-nephews. The joys of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jennifer Payne Thompson and her husband Ted, Allen Payne and his wife Marisa, Alex Gieb, Leslie Gieb, Carson Ross, Sam Ross, Trenton Thompson and Grant Payne. Treva’s family takes comfort in knowing she waits for us in Heaven where we will see her again. She loved all, and all that knew her greatly loved her in return. A memorial service was held on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Christ Church Midland. Pallbearers were Allen Payne, Alex Gieb, Carson Ross, Sam Ross, Ted Thompson and Dr. Rob Brown. Memorials may be made to Christ Church Midland, American Heart Association, Midland Memorial Hospice or a charity of your choice.
