

Wilda M. Burk went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 6, 2014. She was born in Enloe, Texas on January 25, 1923. At a young age her family moved to San Angelo, Texas. She later married Lem Burk and they moved to Midland, Texas in 1956. She worked at Piggly Wiggly Grocers, then at Mangel’s Dress Shop for twelve years. She worked for the city of Midland in the Water Department and retired with the city in 1989. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and working in her yard. Many of her loved ones have gone ahead of and are now rejoicing. Mrs. Burk was a long time member of second Baptist Church.
Mrs. Burk is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters; one brother; two brothers-in-law; and one granddaughter.
Mrs. Burk is survived by her daughter, Kathryn “Kitty” Shults and her husband Alvin of Midland, Texas; granddaughter, Karie L. Winfree and husband Marcus of Austin, Texas; great granddaughter Emma Kathryn Winfree and great grandson Connor Avery Hughes both of Austin, Texas; one nephew Danny Jones and wife Anna of Santa Anna, Texas; two nieces, Janice Tucker and husband G.L. of Temple, Texas, and Becky English and husband Barry; several grandnieces and grandnephews and their families; stepdaughters, Nelda Mayfield of Sonora, Texas, Shirley Griffith of Georgetown, Texas, Janet McGuffin of Georgetown, Texas, and Brenda Knafelz of Flower Mound, Texas.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Second Baptist Church with Jerry Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the Red Rose and Yellow Rose Assisted Living for their special love and care for Mrs. Burk for over eleven years, the care giving to her at Saddle ridge for seven months, and Dr. Vogel and his staff. They would also like to thank Continue Care at the Midland Memorial Hospital West Campus, as well as “our church family” of Second Baptist Church and special friends at First Baptist Church of Midland, Texas.
