

Ana Nury was born in Amalfi Antioquia, Colombia on August 9, 1935 to Pedro Elias Robledo and Maria Ines Villegas de Robledo. Ana Nury was married to Dr. Humberto Gomez for 66 years until his death in 2021.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Diana Lucia. Ana Nury leaves behind six children: daughter Maria Bax (Don) and sons Ryan and Tim; son Dr.Mario Gómez (ClaraIBeth) and children Jessica, Amy, Javier, and Melissa; Dr.Diego Gómez and daughters Elena and Erilen; Luz Sheppard (Scott, preceded in death) and children Christopher and Sarah; Lina Willis (Jack) and children Ben, Susan, Lucas, and Tommy; and Vicky Canderelli (Nick) and children Mariana, Deanna, Vincent and Orianna. Ana Nury also leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren.
Ana Nury and Humberto wedded on January 11th, 1955 in Colombia and moved to New Orleans as Humberto began his medical profession. Ten months later they were blessed with their first child and returned to Cali, Colombia where they were blessed with six more children. Ana Nury emigrated to the US with her husband and seven children in 1968. She reinvented her life and provided for a family of 9 all while learning a new language and culture. Ana Nury supported her family through several moves around the states until they found home in Richmond Virginia in 1972.
Ana Nury frequently returned to her home of Medellin Colombia throughout her life with her husband and family. Colombia was her place of solace and her home-away-from-home. She cherished her visits with her beloved Antioquian family and proudly introduced her Colombian-American grandchildren to her beautiful country and culture. Ana Nury and Humberto also traveled the world together; experiences she often reflected on in the stories and memories she shared with her family.
While raising her children and grandchildren, Ana Nury was a very engaged member of her church and was an active philanthropist. She was an impressive seamstress and generously shared her gift with her church, community, and family. She also enjoyed her many hobbies which included cooking, gardening, and singing and dancing with her family.
Ana Nury was the rock of her ever-growing family. Ana Nury Robledo Gomez is the name of the familial love that many generations were blessed with. She is the love that Humberto Gomez knew, upon their first introduction, that was his one and only and forever and always. Her perseverance and grace through life’s challenges are a mark of extraordinary strength, a strength that comes from her love for her family. Her love ripples through the generations of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ana Nury Robledo Gomez loved her family, lived her faith, and died in God’s grace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to: The American Cancer Society or The American Heart Association.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1pm on Friday, January 20, at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Dr. North Chesterfield, VA 23235.
