Born on December 11, 1985, AJ was a beloved son, brother, partner, and friend whose infectious spirit and zest for life brought joy to all those blessed enough to have known him. While his unexpected passing has left a hole in our hearts, it brings us peace in knowing he has been reunited in Heaven with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bottoms and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Clement Sr.
In his youth, AJ was a driven championship wrestler at James River High School, paving the way for his love of health and fitness in adulthood. Frequently training and embracing a lifestyle of wellness, his love for understanding the human body led him to pursue studies in nutrition and health sciences. AJ was a dedicated student at Tidewater Community College, preparing to graduate with honors in May, and had recently applied to numerous universities to further his education. His ambition and drive reflected his commitment to making a difference in the world through health and wellness.
AJ was also an active member of AA and took pride in sharing his story with others, spreading the joy of recovery and inspiring those on their own journeys. His greatest pleasure in life came from being of service to others, and he found purpose in uplifting those around him. His strength, resilience, and unwavering kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
AJ was blessed to be deeply loved and cherished by four parents, Anthony and Judith Clement and Chris and Rickie Burnette, and shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings Tyler Burnette, Michael Pentifallo, Andrew Clement, Lauren Staley and Jessica Clement, his sister-in-law Alyssa Burnette, and brother-in-law Jordan Staley. AJ was also a proud and loving uncle to his nephews Leland, Teddy, and Evan and niece Leah.
AJ's beloved partner, Jess Hales, was his rock and greatest love, standing by his side through life’s journey. He also had an immense love for his three four-legged fur babies - Prince, Dixie, and Lucy - who brought him endless joy and companionship.
AJ also cherished numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, with a special place in his heart for his great-aunt, Littie Edwards, and grandma, Vera Clement.
AJ's presence lit up every room, and his kindness, generosity, and dedication to those he loved will never be forgotten. Though he is no longer physically with us, AJ's spirit, love, and laughter will remain in our hearts forever.
Services are being held for AJ on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel. A memorial service will be held from 11am-1pm in the Chapel and will be immediately proceeded by a Celebration of Life reception from 1pm-4pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Polished Man, a campaign for which AJ was passionate.
