Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, a true Southern gentleman. After joining the National Guard, he graduated from the College of William & Mary where he met the love of his life, Regina. He continued serving his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Army. His professional journey led him to a distinguished career in human resources and lobbying for the manufacturing industry. Tom loved building and creating.
He was an avid reader, passionate about Virginia history, and a lifelong student of the past. He volunteered with several local historical societies and supported many charities that were close to his heart. As an excellent dart player, it wasn’t just the game he loved—it was the camaraderie, the laughter, and friendships. Those evenings were a cherished part of his life, filled with warmth and connection.
Above all, Tom loved his family. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Whether sharing stories, having a game of chess or enjoying a quiet moment, he brought warmth and wisdom to every gathering. His legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in our hearts.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Regina Holland Hamilton of Suffolk, Virginia. He is survived by his daughters Laura Hamilton, Amy Hamilton Fobbs, and Cyndi Hamilton Ruppert (Sean); his grandsons Jacob Ruppert and Austin Fobbs; great-grandson Rylan Fobbs; his brother-in-law Warren Holland and the Kinka family who brought him much joy.
A visitation with the family will be held at Woody Funeral Home- Huguenot Chapel on November 1st from 2–4 PM.
